I felt quite let down when I checked out. Since we couldn't stay the extra hour, we missed lunch, which was disappointing after the lovely lady at the bar had suggested I try a raspberry margarita. I'd enjoyed the apple and elderflower ones the night before. I was told that keeping the room until lunchtime meant paying, because they don't recognise the loyalty club for bookings made through Expedia. I'd have to pay for the late checkout. It felt mean, and I didn't feel valued as a guest. The receptionist also used my first name over the phone, which felt inappropriate since I didn't know who I was speaking with.

We had a lovely one-night stay after taking the boys to Peppa Pig World for my son's fifth birthday. The hotel gave us a free room upgrade to the top floor and treats for the children. They even brought a complimentary birthday cake to our room, and the lovely lady sang happy birthday. The staff are a credit to the hotel. They couldn't have done more for us. Thanks for a fantastic stay, we'll definitely be back! Mr and Mrs Staples

The room felt worn and due for refurbishment, and the shower was stuck at a dangerously hot temperature. Our towels were dirty, and the promised hairdryer wasn't in the room, though the staff helpfully brought one when we asked. Check-in at the front desk was slow. Also, watch the car drop-off limit: it's 15 minutes per visit. The desk can give you half an hour, but they didn't mention that until it was too late. For the price, I expected better.

Compton Walk Car Park was an easy option, just a minute from the hotel, and cost us £13 for 20 hours. There's no parking on site, so that was useful to know. The Leonardo Hotel Southampton is also a short drive or taxi ride from the marina and city centre. We had a pleasant one-night stay. The room was spacious, quiet, and spotlessly clean, with tea and coffee, toiletries, a hairdryer, and a kettle. The lobby looked good on arrival, and check-in was quick and friendly. I'd happily recommend it and stay again.

For £60 from Saturday to Sunday, I'd say the one-night stay was good value. The hotel is central, staff were friendly, check-in and checkout were easy, and the bed was comfortable. The only small issue was the adjoining room, which was locked. The man in there talked on his phone early enough to wake my partner and me. Not a major problem, just something to be aware of.
