No.4 Carlton Hotel

The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with very clean bathrooms and easy-to-control temperatures in both the room and bathroom. I loved the towel warmer. The bathroom doors have glass in them, though, so if you’re sharing and want privacy, ask whether a room without that feature is available. The minibar is included, with Coke, Diet Coke, sparkling or still mineral water, tea, instant coffee, and snacks. The place has grown since it first opened. Ignore reviews saying there’s no breakfast, as they’ve opened a lovely breakfast room and bar next door. You order the night before, then while your hot food is being prepared you can pick from fresh pastries, fruit, juice, water, and cereals. It’s a short but appealing menu. I had avocado on sourdough, which was fantastic, and they offered to add salmon. It was very quiet indoors, though there was street noise outside, which the owners can’t control. The staff were gracious and went out of their way to help, even arranging an early morning car service to the airport. I was grateful for their contacts and help. Everything was walkable: 10 minutes to the mall, 5 minutes to pubs and restaurants, and 10 minutes to Sea City and the parks. I loved staying here and we’ll be back.

We stayed in the Dahlia room at No4 Carlton this weekend, and it’s one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever been to. The room was stunning, extremely clean, and had excellent amenities. The bed was the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in, and the customer service was brilliant. Breakfast was lovely, and the breakfast room looked stunning too. Thank you for such an amazing stay. We’ll definitely recommend it to friends and family, and we’ll be back next time we visit Southampton.

In May 2026, I stayed at No.4 Carlton for three nights before my cruise. The accommodation was very nice, and breakfast at the sister property just next door was excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful, and breakfast at the sister property Maison Carlton next door was delicious. It’s beautifully designed and feels very luxurious, too. I stayed one night with my partner and can’t recommend No.4 enough. The room was beautifully designed, with a comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. The complimentary minibar and bath salts were personal highlights. The location was great, within walking distance of good bars, restaurants, and everything we needed. It was a pleasure to stay, and I can’t wait to return to Southampton.
