Pebbles Guest House - Flat 5

My booking was accepted and charged, but they couldn’t find my reservation. I had to find somewhere else to stay that same day. Really bad. Then hotels.com charged me a cancellation fee even though I hadn’t cancelled.

We were woken by a man beating a woman and lots of screaming. I’m pretty sure she was pushed down the stairs. Three police cars arrived and took him away. It was a terrifying experience. A local cab driver later told us that guest houses are known for illicit activity, such as drugs and prostitution. Our room was dirty, the door wouldn’t shut all the way, the bed was really uncomfortable, and the bathroom was dirty. The towels were threadbare. We’d never stay here again.

For such a cheap price, the place was basic but functional. The check-in arrangements were poor, though. We got no details beforehand, and nobody was there when we arrived. We had to call the number on the wall, but it went straight to voicemail while we tried to get access to the room. Eventually we got sorted out, and the same thing happened to a couple who arrived after us. I was there with two friends and we managed, but if I’d been responsible for bringing my wife, she wouldn’t have been impressed.

It was cheap and close to the theatre, and the bed was comfortable 😃. But the room was very dirty, the curtains didn’t fit the windows, and there was no hot water for washing my face. We also struggled to get into our room because the instructions weren’t clear. When we arrived at pebbles guest House, none of us could get into the building until someone went around back and found the back door open. At least there was tea and coffee.
