The White Star Tavern

As regulars, the White Star Tavern has become our favourite place in Southampton, and this celebration reminded us why. Bridget, Kyle, and all the staff made my twins' 30th birthday feel special from the moment we arrived, going above and beyond throughout the evening. The atmosphere, food, service, and attention to detail were fantastic. Everyone made us feel welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for your kindness and professionalism, and for helping make such an important family occasion unforgettable.

We stayed for a night before our cruise and found the place fantastic value for money. The staff were super helpful, and the rooms were a good size. There's no lift, but they can store your big luggage. We had fresh milk for the in-room tea and coffee. Dinner was great pub grub, and breakfast in the morning was plentiful and tasty. We'll definitely choose this hotel again if we're in the area.

The breakfast was superb, among the best we've had, with something for everyone and no problem accommodating dietary needs. The staff were cheerful and went out of their way to make the stay a great experience. Our boutique room was lovely, with high-end touches including the refreshments. We stayed in the snug cabin, which was lovely, but next time we'll choose a room with a king-size bed. This welcoming, comfortable gastro pub with rooms is a hidden gem, just a 15-minute walk from West Quay shops. The busy pub noise wasn't an issue and ended at a reasonable time, after which it was quiet. We'll be back, and they offer 15% off return visits.

We picked The White Star by chance, and the whole stay turned out to be well worth it. It's conveniently located near the cruise port, with comfortable, nicely appointed rooms. The breakfasts and the lunches and dinners were outstanding, and the staff were very nice, polite, and attentive. We enjoyed the stay and every meal, and the prices were very reasonable.
