We had everything we needed in cosy accommodation, and Joe & Julia went the extra mile to make the stay better than we expected. The full English breakfast they make is lovely too. My wife and I spent Christmas at the Birkdale Guesthouse and had a wonderful stay. Joe & Julia are such sweet, caring hosts. We’ll definitely return when we’re in the area, and would highly recommend it.

The lounge was spacious, with a good selection of books and leaflets about local attractions. Breakfast had plenty of choice, including vegetarian options, and the food was very good. My room was clean, tidy, spacious and up to a very high standard, with a comfortable bed. I stayed for two nights while I was in the area to photograph a friend’s wedding. The guest house owner was friendly, welcoming and full of useful information. I’d happily book here again if I’m back in the area, and would definitely recommend a stay. Thanks again for a wonderful two nights.

Joe and Julie were really friendly and helpful, and we’d stay there again. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and breakfast was lovely. The only thing I’d change is having a bigger TV on the wall. Thank you, Joe and Julie.

There’s a real personal touch here that’s missing from lots of places. The hosts are lovely and friendly, breakfast is great, and everything is spotlessly clean. I’ll definitely stay again.

I’ve stayed here a few times, though this was my first visit with Joe & Julie running the place. The standard is still high, and the comfort of a familiar stay is nice. The price has gone up quite a bit. Some things are better, others not as good as before, but everyone has their own way of making a place their own, and they’re happy to take comments on board.
