Florence Gardens Hotel & Restaurant

It’s only a two-minute walk to the seafront, and you can walk to old town Portsmouth in 30-40 minutes. There’s also a bus every 10 minutes, and it’s very cheap. The hotel looked a bit deceiving from outside when we drove up, but parking was easy, and the staff were attentive and helpful. The food was amazing, with lots of choice at breakfast and a very good, generous evening meal. Our room was spotlessly clean and serviced daily. The bed was a little too hard for us, but it was a great place to stay. Would recommend it.

The rooms are small but adequate, and there’s no lift since it’s a converted Edwardian house. Very clean, with an excellent breakfast. There’s plenty of parking, but you need to request it when booking.

The Florence Gardens Hotel feels like a little oasis after navigating the very tight streets. It’s small, quaint, and beautiful. The staff are personable and understanding if you’re new to the area, and they make you feel like you’ve been coming for years. Parking is tight, so it’s best to reserve a space for your stay. Having one saved for us made things much easier than searching for street parking.

We had a lovely one-night birthday stay. The hotel sits down a tiny lane and has a gorgeous garden and conservatory restaurant and bar. Service was friendly and efficient, and they arranged a beautiful birthday cake for us from a local patisserie. We ate at the Florence Arms gastro pub, about 10 steps away, which is also owned by Mercer. The seafront is just a three-minute walk away. Thank you!
