Queens Hotel

We had a wonderful three-night stay at this elegant historic hotel. The location worked perfectly for us: we walked to restaurants, shops and even the Hovercraft to Isle of Wight. Our room was opulent and updated, with every amenity we needed, and the staff were attentive and helpful.

My friend and I had a lovely birthday meal together. Tom, our waiter, was so kind and accommodating. The food was pleasant, and I left feeling really happy xxx.

We held a black tie dinner for 25 people in Libby's room and couldn’t have been happier with how it went. Alice from events was outstanding, patient and responsive, and her flexibility made organising it easy. The team handled a guest’s severe nut allergy expertly and explained clearly when we made difficult requests. On the night, our supervisor Cam was polite, attentive and patient, so I could relax knowing everyone was being looked after during dinner and afterwards. The Duke's bar staff and night staff made our guests staying at the hotel feel welcome and wanted as they finished the evening with drinks. The reception rooms are beautiful and clean. Some areas of the hotel rooms feel tired, and they seemed a little overpriced, but that didn’t take away from an exceptional evening. Thank you!

The food was good, and I had the gluten-free option, but the service left me disappointed at this festive afternoon tea. Nobody greeted us when we arrived, and we had to chase one hot chocolate and one latte. Tea and coffee were just OK. The table arrangement wasn’t good, there were no Xmas crackers, and the table decorations were moved to make room for the food. Paying was confused too: we wanted separate bills, but staff mixed up who owed what. One person paid cash and had to ask for their change before we left. I would have declined the service charge if I’d known about it. It wasn’t a good experience.
