We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and the staff were so friendly and polite. They even brought water and snacks for our dog, which was a lovely touch. The food was warm, fresh and delicious, and came out quickly, just like our drinks. This place deserves better than a 3.9 rating. We’ll be back and would happily recommend it.

Two huge Sunday lunches came to £24 on the 2-for-1 deal, and they were fresh, tasty and great value. The portions were generous, the beef was beautifully cooked, and all the vegetables were lovely. The toasties and parsnips were especially good. We went with friends today and will definitely return.

The live band was excellent, and we had lovely service. The food was good too. I was out for the evening, so I can’t comment on the rooms.

The bar staff and DJ were lovely and helped make the party bearable, but the owner’s poor communication caused us a huge amount of stress. I booked the venue for my leaving party before moving abroad through the manager, who was great but then left unexpectedly. The owner didn’t tell us, and nobody contacted us to plan the booking. We’d been told we had the venue from 11am, so, since it was a sunny weekend, we invited guests from 1pm. We had to clean the venue ourselves when we arrived. Most of the beers on tap had run out, the beer fridges were broken, and only two beers were available, one tasting strange. The spirits and wine were also running low or gone. Staff said the manager hadn’t placed a stock order, despite two events being held that weekend. We’d ordered food, but many menu items never arrived, leaving us short on food and with little choice of drinks. After we complained by email, we heard nothing for weeks. Calls went unanswered, or the owner was “busy.” Eventually we got a small “good will” refund, with no acknowledgement or apology for the owner’s poor management. I wouldn’t host an event here if you want to avoid disappointment.
