We’ll be back. Staff were friendly and approachable throughout our stay, and the building is perfectly placed for town life. We booked through booking.com for Friday and Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. To reach the guest entrance, walk down the other road to the back of the building; the rooms are up stairs, with handrails on both sides. We stayed in the first room, a small room as advertised, with a bath and shower and heating for the cold nights. The key is in a safe, and you get the code on the day. The bed is against the wall, so you have to climb over your partner at night, though that wasn’t an issue for us. Be aware that the church bells went off on Sunday.

We had dinner in the restaurant on Saturday, and both the food and service were brilliant. The meal was delicious, with great service from start to finish. We stayed in a small double for two nights over the last weekend of Nov, celebrating our wedding anniversary and the Xmas lights switch on. The room was adequate, and the freestanding bath in the bathroom more than made up for the small bedroom. Sutherland House is a great building in a brilliant location. Looking forward to coming back next year.

My wife and I were staying in Southwold and some desktop research led us to Sutherland House for Friday night dinner. The restaurant was packed but had a great atmosphere, the food was superb, and the service was as good as it gets. The energetic, attentive staff looked after us from start to finish. Incredible experience, thank you! Please may we come back?

The atmosphere was comfortable and gentle, and the welcome felt warm. Service was attentive, and the menu was thoughtful, with seasonal, delicious food. Their own English sparkling wine was superb. A beautiful dining experience.

We’ll certainly be back. It’s a family run business, and the service was excellent from beginning to end. We had dinner here, and the food was outstanding in quality, taste and presentation. Would highly recommend dining at this restaurant.
