Rosemundy Villa

I was taking my dogs for a sunny stroll and didn't know they weren't allowed on the hotel grounds. I've seen plenty of people walking dogs there, and there were no signs saying it was forbidden. If the manager had simply told me politely, I would have apologized and left. I truly didn't realize, and I am sorry. Instead, she spoke to me incredibly rudely, as if I were dirt, and accused me of leaving dog poo on the lawn. I would never do that, and my little dogs weren't even on the lawn. I'm a local who lives nearby, and the whole thing left me shaken and shocked. I've never encountered that kind of rudeness in the village. I can only wonder how she treats her staff. Manager, please be kind. It costs nothing.

The food was outstanding, and I couldn't fault the hotel. I spent four nights here on a coach holiday. The manageress runs things very efficiently, and the staff were amazing. The entertainment was great too, and Cornish bingo had us laughing.

The hotel's history is really interesting, and the beach was amazing even in the rain. It's a mile and a half walk there, though, with hills, so it won't suit anyone with mobility issues. Our room was clean and the beds comfortable, but there were only small bedside units for clothes, no drawers. I'd also prefer teabags in a container instead of left uncovered in a dish. The food, especially breakfast, was very good, and the service was good, with meals arriving hot at the table. Some little things were missing: no butter knife, sugar left uncovered on the table for all five days, and cloudy glasses from the dishwasher.

A comfortable, clean ensuite room that was well appointed, and the coach holiday menu was surprisingly good quality with just-right portions. The hotel is a lovely converted house, with cosy public rooms and lots of original features. It's set in grounds within easy reach of beautiful St. Agnes. There's no lift, but my elderly parents still found it easy to get around.
