The roast was excellent after our long coastal walk on our first Sunday visit. We returned for dinner one evening after checking the website, but it was clearly out of date. There were no starter or pudding options and very few mains, which was disappointing. The food itself was good and the service lovely, but the hotel really needs to make its online menu clearer. Very disappointing to rely on the menu shown on the website.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the place was spotless. We stayed for two nights over the August bank holiday in the Bolster room, which had a king bed and two singles, though there were only two of us. The room was clean and freshly painted in grey-green, with clean bedding and towels. The building slopes, so things slid off the bedside table, which gave us a laugh. The mattress was comfortable, but the pillows weren't, and the shower door kept slipping. There was tea and coffee with mugs, but no fridge. Breakfast was one item and a drink. We tried the full English and scrambled egg on toast, and both were delicious. We also ate in the bar one night, but the steak tacos were a letdown: three on the plate, with cold steak and tasty salad, and no side. We've stayed in the area several times and would stay here again, mainly for the cleanliness and staff.

The pub was the highlight of our quick overnight stop in St. Agnes on the way to South Cornwall. The food was far beyond ordinary pub fare, with gourmet ingredients and some of the best we've eaten as foodies. We had the Augie Burger, loaded nachos and heirloom tomato salad for dinner. Don't skip breakfast: my husband, "the Brit," said it was the best Cornish breakfast he'd had, and I had poached eggs on toast. The staff were incredible, warm, friendly and genuinely engaged in making the stay a good one. Our room was delightful and exceeded my expectations. I only wish we'd stayed longer. Enjoy your time at the St. Agnes Hotel!

I didn't stay overnight, just ate at the pub. Their creamy mash is unbelievably delicious. Go try it!

Our reserved table was taken when we arrived for dinner, but the staff sorted that quickly while we ordered a drink. The food was delicious as before. When we carried our empty glasses to the bar to pay, though, the young barman accused us of trying to leave without paying three times. We explained we were coming over to pay, and his response was, "Can't be too careful." That was rude and disgraceful customer service, and his attempt to apologise was pathetic. A real shame. That arrogant, rude staff member needs training.
