We had a nice sunset view from the living room, and parking was conveniently available. The apartment was excellent, about five minutes from St Albans train station with easy access to London. The bedroom was warm, quiet and comfortable for our few-month-old baby travelling with us.

I still haven't received my deposit back, more than a year later. The host kept GBP 250 over a box of toiletries that was misplaced at Ziggurat house , 5th floor, flat 96! I'm writing this because I value honest service and reviews, and I felt deliberately robbed by the way the host handled it. Please be careful and don't stay here. On check-out, they thanked us for leaving the apartment in good condition. The next day, they said a toiletries box was missing, marked it stolen and said there would be no deposit refund. My daughter was moving into St Albans, and a friend helping her move accidentally took the box. We didn't realise until I asked my daughter if she'd seen anything like it. It may have cost less than 10 pounds. An owner or agent should at least give a customer a chance to check and explain before holding a deposit. The host didn't let us reply in chat. It was already difficult to reach the property staff, and the basic supplies were sparse: sheets, toilet rolls and towels. There was no oil, salt, pepper or anything else in the kitchen. We stayed almost three weeks and paid over 2600 gbp. For cleaning and more bin bags, we had to ask, and they seemed very stingy and didn't take the length of our stay into account. I messaged them on WhatsApp before leaving to ask them to retrieve items from the unit's mailbox, but they returned only one parcel, because it had my daughter's name on it. I had used the same WhatsApp number when asking to extend our last night, since I don't live in the UK, but the host didn't contact me back. None of my pleas or explanations got a reply until 20 days after I made a formal complaint to booking dot com. The case had been pending for more than a month, and neither the host nor booking.com had got back to me. Finally, I called booking.com and reached someone on their service line who was willing to email the host and try to resolve it as best they could. I hope I get the deposit back. The space may be okay, but there are other apartments in the area, and I felt I was treated very unfairly.

We stayed ten nights on a family trip and felt at home. The apartment was clean and looked just like the photos, with a good location for walking to the station, bus stops or town centre. We heard some railway noise at ground level, but closing the windows made it okay. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the host quickly sent detailed instructions. It's a great fit for families who want to cook and feel at home. We'd happily return.

The balcony view was amazing, and the apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay with family or friends. I was there for almost 20 days and loved it. The rooms were spacious, quiet and very well arranged. The kitchen was well built and fully equipped, with top quality appliances and crockery. The bathroom had a luxurious feel, and the bed and sofa bed were high quality and useful for a family. Dee and her partner were very cooperative, quick to respond and always ready to help with whatever we needed. Highly recommend.

The host sent clear directions, and I found the apartment easily from London Black friars on the direct train to St Albans City. It's modern, clean and spacious, about a 5-7-minute walk from the station. After long training days in London, it had everything I needed to unwind. I really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to anyone working around London and Hertifordshire.
