Drumoig Golf Hotel

A lovely hotel with a great golf course. The rooms were good, the food was great, and the staff were nice.

The green, rolling views over the lake, with birds around, made for a lovely cup of tea in bed. We booked the hotel because it was close enough to St. Andrews for our son's graduation. My double room, number 29 in the main cottage, was spacious and had a comfortable sofa. The other room, a twin that I think was number 21, was smaller and less cosy. The crisp white sheets and towels were lovely. In the bathroom, the basin had separate hot and cold taps, which you don’t often see now, and the flush was rather weak. You could turn on the bathroom towel rail heating, but not the room heating, and it was cold at 14 degrees. The hefty full Scottish breakfast was included, along with the usual buffet of juice, cereal and so on.

A good spot for a golf weekend, and we’d stay again. The course was in great condition and very good. The rooms could use an update.

I’d never travelled alone before, but went for my best friends wedding and booked after reading the reviews. It turned out to be the best possible experience. I enjoyed breakfast, walking around the golf courses and sleeping well at night. Such a brilliant place to wind down and relax. Thank you for a perfect stay.
