They got our room ready the way we needed it within ten minutes after I realised I’d booked a double instead of a twin. We really appreciated that. We were welcomed into the pub by the dogs, and registration was efficient. Good accommodation all round.

The food was freshly cooked, really good, and great quality. We also found the staff pleasant and helpful, with great service in a very nice-looking place. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in St Andrews.

The tavern is an easy 15-minute walk from the main street and St Andrews golf course. Its rooms upstairs were clean, comfortable and excellent. I’d definitely come back.

We checked that the dishes we wanted were available before ordering, but half an hour later staff told us they were no longer available. The standard felt poor from the start. Some older staff members had a poor attitude and service, while the younger staff were pleasant. The food looked reasonable, but we won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend it.

There’s level access on the ground floor, so a few changes could make the place much more inclusive. One front door is always shut, leaving an opening under 36in/91cm wide for a wheelchair. There’s no lowered section of the bar, and no wheelchair accessible or disabled restroom. Better wheelchair access would be appreciated.
