The owners were lovely to deal with and quick to help whenever we had a question. We had plenty of parking, and the kitchen was really well stocked. It worked nicely for our family birthday weekend, with things for adults and kids to enjoy, like darts, the pool table and hot tub. One bed squeaked a lot, and one shower couldn't keep its temperature steady, but we managed fine for a long weekend.

The guest handbook had all the useful local information, and there were plenty of amenities and things to keep us entertained. The host was great at communicating, too. We loved the property. It reminded us of the sort of place we usually book for trips to the French countryside. I'd definitely recommend it.

We felt awkward and unwelcome throughout our stay, which was especially disappointing since this was the most expensive place we stayed on our wall walk. Charlotte insisted that everyone eat together at one communal table, even after a tiring day of walking, and we weren't allowed to have our phones on the table at dinner. The menu and meal times weren't open for discussion, and she kept reminding us that we were in her home. It made for a really unpleasant experience for both of us. The setting is lovely for people walking Hadrian’s wall. Our room was clean, and having a bathtub in the en-suite was very welcome. But the experience with Charlotte was nothing like what the other reviews had led us to expect.

The hot tub was especially nice after spending the day out on long walks, and the house was comfortable and very well looked after. We also enjoyed the pool table and the projector for films or playing ps4. There was a thoughtful welcome pack waiting for us, too. It's a great place to stay, and one of my UK favourites.

There are plenty of walks nearby, and the location makes a good base for exploring the lakes. We found the venue ideal for a big party, with a huge kitchen and good equipment throughout.
