The view from the lounge is what makes this apartment for me: you can look out over the cathedral and coastline. It’s right in the middle of the city, with a lounge, bedroom and bathroom. The bed was great and I slept really well. The bathroom was bright and clean, with plenty of hot water. There was lots of coffee and biscuits from the host, a nice touch while I sit here writing and sipping coffee. Highly recommend.

The first of our two nights went well, and the owner gave us a warm welcome. But at 3am on the second night, shouting, abuse, aggressive behaviour and doors being kicked woke us up. It was the owner. He wasn’t there at breakfast when I got up to ask what had happened. After we got home that afternoon, I called the premises and asked him to phone me, but he didn’t. I eventually spoke to him and got a curt, rude response. He said there had been extraordinary circumstances and offered £50, saying to take it or leave it. I’d rather warn potential customers than take his money. Hopefully you don’t drink too much at his gin bar and restaurant, or you might encounter extraordinary circumstances too. I couldn’t give a minus score, though he certainly deserved one.
