The tapas selection was lovely, the massages were pleasant, and the spa restaurant staff were great. Beth especially deserves a shoutout. She worked so hard and was fantastic with the tables, even singing along with other guests. Well done to everyone there. We’d booked a full spa day package and found it very relaxing overall. A few facilities let it down: some showers were out of order, and we were told on arrival that the saunas weren’t available that day. My partner and I don’t like saunas, so that didn’t bother us, but it could be inconvenient for other spa guests. From the other reviews, the facilities seem to be a recurring issue to bear in mind when booking.

We had a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly, the restaurant pizzas were good, and we had a wonderful massage at the nice spa. One of the saunas was out of use during our visit, though. Our basic room overlooked the canal and had a small balcony. It was scorching, so we had to turn down the heating. The TV was set to radio stations only and needed retuning.

The room felt tired, with a damaged headboard and pillows that were flat and dirty. There was also a beer can being used as an ashtray on the balcony, which made a poor first impression. Check-in was just a key handover, with no details about breakfast times, the restaurants, or where to find the gym. I usually stay at the Parkway Hotel in Wales, which is fantastic by comparison. This place could be much better with more care and attention.

The location is lovely, out in the countryside beside the canal, and easy to find. The hotel also seems to have been redecorated recently, as the rooms and public spaces looked light and airy. We enjoyed the food at both dinner and breakfast. It was well cooked and presented, with a decent range of choices. We were there overnight on 7/12/25 with family for our traditional Christmas get-together. We’d stayed years ago and enjoyed it, so expected a similar standard. Housekeeping was the main disappointment: our bathrooms needed a deep clean, especially around the showers. The restaurant tables felt sticky and some chairs were stained too. The bar was fine if you like spirits, but there wasn’t much choice of draught beer. Service was okay, though nobody told us beforehand that the bar took card payments only, which didn’t suit our usual kitty arrangement. We still had a good time, but management, especially the housekeeping team, needs to raise its standards considerably.

Jess, Dan, and Adina were amazing throughout, and I couldn’t fault their help, responsiveness, or dedication. The whole events team was fantastic. Their professionalism and attention to detail made a real difference and took so much pressure and stress off my shoulders. I’m very grateful to everyone for all their hard work. Lots of love, Indy...xxxx
