We were on holiday and didn’t have a room, so I can’t really comment on the location since I don’t know the area. But the staff were lovely and so dog friendly. The dogs picked beef and potato from the dog menu and loved it. My husband had the steak and ale pie, which was stunning, with amazing chips. I had a proper jacket potato with punch chicken curry, not microwaved, and it was beautiful. Portions were big and the price was great. Highly recommend. If we lived here, we’d come for food regularly.

The Guinness was top class, though it’s a pity they didn’t have brown ale. Staff were great and the food was excellent. I’ve just finished what might be the best steak and ale pie I’ve ever had in a pub, so I can highly recommend it. Six stars! Punch Bowl

The prices were very reasonable, and the staff were attentive and top notch. I had a pint of Guinness that was one of the best I’ve had in ages, at a reassuringly good price. The shortcrust steak and ale pie was fabulous, with excellent gravy and triple-cooked chips. If you’re in the area, give it a go.

We found this place by chance when we dropped in for Saturday lunch. What a cosy, friendly local pub, with delicious food and welcoming staff. Glad we stumbled across it and will definitely return!

First time at this pub, and the food was really tasty. The mince and dumplings were full of flavour, which was a nice surprise because a lot of other pubs don’t season their mince. The staff were very friendly. I’ll be back for more.
