That vegan breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked: beans, mushrooms, vegan sausage, toast and tomatoes. I could barely finish it. After a lovely night's sleep, I really didn't want to leave. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and hope my daughter chooses to do her silver DofE so I can treat myself to another stay. Tina gave me such a warm welcome and showed me around. Downstairs there was a cosy living room with a rug over its stone floor, a sofa, dining table, tourist leaflets and breakfast cereals. The bathroom had a bath, shower, toilet and sink, plus plenty of towels and toiletries. Upstairs, the massive bedroom had a large bed, a single bed and a sleeper chair, with books and guides. There was also a mini fridge, kettle, tea and coffee in the room. This place feels more like a superior 3 star than a bog-standard 3 star. I wish everywhere I stayed were like this.

After a 19 mile hike, getting to soak in a hot bath was absolute bliss. Tina was so hospitable, and even called Cecilia's pizzeria to make sure we could get something to eat. The pizzas are well worth recommending. Our room was amazing, the bed was comfy, and we slept really well. Breakfast was amazing too. Thanks so much, Tina, for a fabulous night.

We love coming back to Sweetbriar and have stayed here many times over the years. The village is small and makes a perfect quiet retreat in North Yorkshire, with plenty of nice walks nearby. It's dog friendly too. It's lovely having a separate part of the house to ourselves, with our own lounge and bathroom below the bedroom. Colin and Tina are lovely people, and breakfast is excellent. Highly recommended.

We drove up in our camper through the rainbow gate and immediately had a good feeling about the place. Sweetbriar sits amid the lush, stunning Dales landscape, and Colin and his charming dog, Harry, were wonderfully welcoming. Colin was gracious and helpful, and a fantastic chef too. We had a marvelous family weekend. If you like a rustic, relaxing atmosphere, good people and chill vibes, this place comes highly recommended. We'll definitely visit again. x

Tina and Colin made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and breakfast was among the best we've ever had. The cottage was lovely inside and out, and absolutely perfect for us. Highly recommend Sweetbriar Cottage. I'm sure we'll be back!
