Stronachlachar Lodge

Alex had decked out every floor with loads of Christmas decorations, which looked fab. We had a great long weekend at the Lodge with friends in December 2025, our third December stay there. The kitchen is brilliant for getting everyone together, and Alex was a lovely, helpful host.

A lovely spot to unwind, walk, and catch up with friends or family. The hosts were great, and the place pairs Scottish charm with all the modern appliances you need. The views are stunning too.

We’ll definitely come back, either to the Lodge or one of the hosts’ smaller places on the same site. Alex clearly cares about making the stay special, and she was so helpful before we arrived. She decorated the house with birthday banners and balloons for our family celebration and left a lovely basket of treats. Our group of 12 stayed at Stronachlachlar Lodge in September 2025, and the setting right by Loch Katrine is stunning, with easy access to swimming and great cycling and walking routes. The Lodge was beautifully presented, with big rooms, comfortable beds, and all the kitchen utensils we could need.

The views from Scott Cottage look across the hills and loch, and watching the “Highland Games” was a highlight. I even have a video of it. I stayed there at the end of May 2025, and the cottage sits at the end of a quiet single-track road, a peaceful base for walking or cycling with very little traffic. It’s spacious, modern, and well equipped. The kitchen exceeded my expectations, honestly better than mine at home, and the sitting and dining areas are comfortable and thoughtfully laid out. I ate at Pier Café each evening, just a two-minute walk away. The food was excellent, and sunset from the pier was unforgettable. You can also take a ferry across the loch to explore more of the area. There’s plenty to do outdoors, including walking, hiking, and cycling, and an Ordnance Survey map is handy for finding local trails and landmarks. I had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.
