Holiday Inn Express Stockport by IHG

I was here for a funeral in Manchester and got a great price for one night. The hotel was clean, the staff polite and helpful, and breakfast had a great range. My room was a good size and comfortable, with very comfy beds, including the sofa bed. Great location, right outside the rail station.

It’s a lovely, very clean hotel, and all the staff are really friendly. The rooms get absolutely boiling, though, and the air con isn’t powerful enough to cool them down. The duvets are so noisy that when my son moved around because of the heat, it kept us awake for more than half the night.

The rooms are basic but comfortable enough. I asked for mine not to be cleaned, but it was cleaned on two of the three days I stayed. It wasn’t a major issue, though it did come across as a lack of communication or care for the customer. Breakfast had a reasonable choice, but the food quality felt much lower than on earlier visits.

The area is nice and handy, with the train station, Starbucks, shops, a 24-hour Mc Donald's and a nearby Sport's Bar. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. We stayed for a Man Utd trip one weekend in February, but the rooms were the letdown. They were too small, and we’d been given the wrong information about the beds, so we had to bunk up. The bathrooms were tiny too. I’ve stayed in larger Holiday Inns. It was a nice experience overall, and I’d come back if I could get a larger or single room.
