Ston Easton Park

Watching several helicopters arrive and take off from the window bays in our room was a lucky bonus. The house is stunning, with expansive grounds, and the staff were consistently polite, friendly, professional, and ready to help with every little whim. The menu stayed the same throughout our three days, though the chef kindly made us something that wasn't on it. The afternoon tea is worth recommending even if you're only in the area.

We were a party of 11 celebrating our auntie's birthday, but the festive afternoon tea was appallingly overpriced and there was no service. During the four hours we were there, nobody from staff came down to check on us. At one point we had to ask for more tea, and were given hot water to pour into our already used, cold loose-leaf tea. It was undrinkable. We stayed only because it was a family occasion and we had a lot to catch up on. The downstairs room had poor lighting and not one decoration, fairy light, or candle. They brought pots of tea but there were barely any teaspoons and no sugar. The sandwiches, scones, and cakes came on tiers, with each tier meant to serve three people. The sandwiches were very dry, although the scones and cakes were lovely. We paid £22.50 each, and apparently their prices have gone up again. Such a shame, because with a little effort it could have been lovely, but we won't be going back.

We had a lovely time celebrating two 70th birthdays, and the staff made it feel special. They were friendly and fun, looked after us so well, and even gave us a private room for breakfast. We also appreciated being shown to the room to sign in instead of waiting around at reception. The grounds were lovely to walk around, and we had good baths and showers, comfy beds, superb rooms, and good food. Thank you to everyone at Ston Easton.

We loved the restaurant's food and atmosphere so much on our first visit that we returned to get married here. The grounds are amazing, and the food deserves more than its 2 AA rosettes. Staff were impeccable and trained to the highest standard. The hotel and rooms felt extremely luxurious, and we felt like royalty. I'd live here if I could!
