The location was good, but I was charged extra for bringing my pet even though I’d listed the pet when booking and the total came to 59. The booking only said charges “may be applicable.” At the desk, the woman snapped that I had to pay more and argued when I said I’d booked with the pet included. She kept saying everywhere charges. Sure, but do they hide it behind “may be applicable” and add it after booking? I paid, then told her I’d find somewhere else next time. For what this crappy hotel cost, including the mysterious cleaning fee, I could have stayed somewhere nicer where the pet fee was included. They said it was for special cleaning because of customer allergies, but the room didn’t look like it had even had a basic clean in years, let alone a deep allergy clean. I’ve added pictures of how clean it was. Never trust a Days Inn, or the uppity brunette at this front desk. Curses on this place. 😤😂 Steer clear.
We checked in on 17th Feb and left on 18th Feb 2026, and it was a miserable night. The room was freezing, with the thermostat locked at 19 degrees, just above the statutory limit. It was preset, so there was no way to turn the heat up. We left the towel rail on and kept our winter jackets on, but still couldn’t sleep because of the cold. There were also dogs fighting next door, despite how pet-friendly the hotel seemed to be. The service area is tiny, and the prices are astronomical. Petrol cost 20% more than at an ordinary nearby station. This hotel and service station should be on a blacklist for anyone travelling southbound on the M6. The worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. It was hell.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price and location are both good. The rooms are starting to look scruffy, though, and badly need refurbishing.
Traffic was so awful that I ended up needing an emergency overnight stop. A kind, caring woman at reception made sure my dog, who has arthritis, didn’t have to climb the stairs. The room was warm and clean, and the place was peaceful. I used the laundrette, had a shower and something to eat, then slept like a log. My dog settled in well too. Thanks for looking after a stranded, traffic-bound traveller. ❤
It’s handy for a stopover, with clean rooms, a convenient location, and dogs allowed for £15. The staff were all really friendly, but the rooms feel very tired, and ours had an overpowering damp smell. I’d recommend it for a quick overnight stop.
