For £50, I think there are better rooms elsewhere. This place was dark and dirty, and not good for a night’s rest. The double room had a sticky wooden floor and was too hot, with loud standing fans running to mask the heat. There was no toilet in the room, so the showers and toilets were communal. Some toilet seats were broken, and when people showered outside my room at 4am, I could hear everything.

The night staff were quite rude, and the stairs are a lot to deal with. I have a knee injury and slightly limited range of motion, and I physically couldn’t get onto the bed. Once on it, I couldn’t sit up. Anyone with a physical disability should avoid this place. It’s inaccessible if you have knee difficulties.

The staff are wonderful and the beds are comfortable, though the whole bed structure moves when you turn over. That doesn’t make up for the rest. There’s no kitchen or shared community space, and the bathrooms offer no privacy. The corridors are oddly laid out and very narrow. The people staying there felt kind of weird, and the vibe was off. The New Cross area is shabby and depressing, with nothing to do around there. For a little more per night, plenty of hostels offer better amenities. You might save money here, but you give up a lot. I wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s a cozy place downstairs to talk and eat, with good food, and the station is close by for getting around. The people were very nice. Max helped me with the doors, and others gave me recommendations for food and travel.
