The Ship Inn gets an easy five stars from me. I only stopped for lunch and a beer, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. It’s a lovely spot right on the harbour, with great chips, an amazing burger and knockout whisky sauce. The staff were lovely, and they’re very welcoming to dogs. Just aces all around.

The room we had that was the largest was truly excellent, and the cleaners were polite and on the ball. The view was amazing, and the room was warm and cosy. The food was excellent, the breakfast fantastic, and the staff friendly and helpful. The toilets were clean and heated. A few things to know: the hot water was hard to control and nearly scalded me, there are no USB charging points, and the bed is solid. The pillows were terrible, so I’d bring my own. Even so, there’s a 90% chance we’ll be back, pillows in hand.

We had a lovely lunch in some unexpected sunshine. The trio of fish was tasty, though only one piece was cooked perfectly and the other two were a little overdone. My vegetarian partner had the mac and cheese, which was nicely done.

The inn is really beautiful. We stopped in on Hogmany before the Fireballs, and even with it packed, service came pretty quickly. Every seat inside was reserved, which made sense.

Debbie & staff made the evening feel easy, friendly and professional. They knew the menu and wine list well, and our meal at the Ship Inn was lovely. We’ll be back!
