The room was old and quaint, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the service was genuinely friendly and helpful. He seemed glad to do whatever he could, so thank you for that. I love staying in old pubs, especially by the river, which makes this a tough review to write. There were three things I really disliked. Room 4 had an incredibly bright green light in the ceiling that couldn't be switched off. I could see everything in the room clearly at night, and it ruined my sleep. I've never had this in a hotel room before, and it needs fixing urgently. The shower barely put out more water than a beer mat, so it was a dribble rather than a shower. And the huge A2 poster asking me to leave a review looked tacky. Believe it or not, I wouldn't return just because of that green light.

We've been coming here for a few years, and Bob is a big reason we keep returning. He always takes time to chat with people inside, especially the regulars. The steaks are the best I've had. They're ordered fresh, so you may need to order a few days ahead, but they're worth the wait. It's a great place to eat or drink. Summer can get busy, though the beer garden out back has seating for that. Excellent pub ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Whenever I get the chance to go, I enjoy the refreshing taste of my two favourite ales, Banks's bitter and especially Banks's mild/original. I used to come here every time I went camping as a kid.

Great ales, and I really liked the BPA. There's a lovely outdoor seating area too. The person behind the bar, who I think was the owner, was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. Brilliant pub, 11/10. I can't fault it.

The log fire gives the pub a warm, cosy feel, and being so dog-friendly is a big plus. From the minute I walked in I felt welcome. The staff and regulars are friendly and make it feel like a real community. A lovely pub that makes you want to linger and come back.
