There’s a lively bar with sports on the teles, and a quieter room at the back if you want somewhere calmer. The choice is good too, with ales, lagers and ciders on tap, plus bottled drinks, spirits and wine. Staff are friendly, and the landlady keeps things fair and firm with both her team and patrons. A great stop whether you’re passing through or settling in for a while.

After walking the 4 miles to Beer and back, we were glad to find somewhere serving food out of season when lots of places were closed. The adults had steak and ale pie, and the kids ordered nuggets. Everything came out piping hot, with generous portions and excellent value. The staff were really pleasant and made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely go again.

The room was warm and perfectly adequate, and the staff were very friendly, but a few things were disappointing. The mattress was worn enough that I could feel the springs, and the pillows were hard and lumpy. We were told on Sunday afternoon that the roast would be served until 7pm, but when we went down at 6.30pm they’d run out. The staff couldn’t suggest anything, and with few places open in Seaton on a November Sunday night, finding food took some effort, though we did manage it. The shower was dreadful and needs replacing.

We had a great weekend here and the food was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was average, though the bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the curtain could have been a little wider. We’ll be back.

We were a group of 8 and hadn’t booked, which was a bit daft during half term when there wasn’t much choice. Luckily we stumbled on this pub for lunch and found a back room full of board games, colouring and quizzes to keep the kids busy. The food was simple but good, with burgers, fish and kids’ meals. The service was really friendly and helpful. It took over an hour for the food, but the kids had plenty to do, and everyone cleared their plates.
