Fernhill Hotel

We enjoyed our two-night stay, with tasty, satisfying evening meals and breakfast and good service. From the dining area and some rooms, the village view is a delight, even at night, as the hotel sits high on a cliff above it. There’s parking at the front and around the side by the extension, so most visitors should find a space. Our room was spacious, with a good-sized bathroom and bath, and the comfortable beds made for a good night’s sleep.

The staff were exceptional, friendly, efficient and welcoming, and the bed was very comfortable. We’ve stayed at the Fernhill before and enjoyed coming back. This time we booked a superior room with a small terrace overlooking Portpatrick and a wonderful view. The room itself felt very tired, though, with old, scruffy furniture and fittings that need updating. The bathroom was dated too, despite having a really good shower over the bath, and the flush button on top of the toilet was missing.

The food was delicious, the rooms lovely and very spacious, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel. We had fantastic views of Portpatrick, and it’s extremely pet-friendly, as is most of the town. The Fernhill is also very reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be back.

Breakfast was lovely, with a sea view to enjoy while eating. We had a wonderful one-night stay in an amazing room overlooking the town and sea. It was quiet, which we loved, and had everything we needed. The bathroom was beautiful and vast, like something from a five-star suite.
