Marine House Hotel

There were six of us, and we dropped in on the off chance of getting breakfast. The staff welcomed us, and everyone got a freshly cooked, hot breakfast. Lovely atmosphere and a great team. We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t comment on the rooms, though it seemed like a good place to stay.

I arrived feeling under the weather and ended up staying for a week. The staff were brilliant, and I had a good breakfast each morning. The restaurant and bar had only just opened, too. It’s a handy hotel for the ferry and a good base for exploring this part of Scotland. Dougie the boss and his pal Scoot make you feel right at home.

My car broke down after I came off the ferry at Cairnryan, so I was stuck in Stranraer for two nights. The lovely staff at Marine House found me a room at the last minute and let my wee dog stay while the car was being fixed. The room was clean and had everything I needed, and breakfast was hot. There’s a large public car park across the road beside a nice park for a wander, and the high street is only a few minutes away. Thanks to Emma & co for having us. I hope I get to stay again if I need to.

The hostess was welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was really good and included in the price. It’s a small, quiet hotel and good value. They also provided a texting service with a detailed itinerary. The only downside is the busy main road right beside it, though the double glazing meant we couldn’t hear it in our room.
