We spent the weekend at No 3. The old walls and uneven floors only added to the charm of this beautiful house. It was spotless, and you could see how much thought had gone into making the place special. All the facilities were clean too.

The location makes this a great base, about a 5-minute walk to the nearest things and 15 minutes to the River Avon. Carl communicated brilliantly throughout, and the instructions for using everything were clear and easy to follow. We arrived to a clean house with a well-equipped kitchen: washer, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, cooker, coffee maker, toaster, and kettle. Cleaning supplies were provided, along with a tea towel, washing-up liquid, and sponge, though we brought our own. This is a beautiful 1400 year old house, decorated to a high standard while keeping its age and character. There are three double bedrooms upstairs. The main one is spacious, with a wardrobe and drawers; the other two have Cooper rails for hanging clothes and drawers. The wonky walls are lovely. There are two bathrooms, an upstairs modern walk-in shower with washbasin and toilet, and a downstairs toilet and Cooper bath off the living room. There’s a step up into that room. Downstairs is spacious enough to get a wheelchair around easily. The living room has large sofas, a big central table, and lovely lighting. We spent most of our time there having a drink, eating snacks, and catching up. The dining room has a Tudor feel and a dab radio we kept on, but the walls are thin and sound travels. Volume 10 worked well. There are low beams and uneven upstairs floors under the carpets, as you’d expect in a house this old. Nothing was under 5.4, and no one in our average-height 5.6 group bumped their head. The uneven floors weren’t a problem, even for someone in the group who has trouble walking. The back door opens onto a stone garden area. We liked the stone path with number 3 on it, and there’s a table and chairs for six and a hammock, which we tried. You can see people in the other parts of the house, numbers 1, 2, and 4, but that wasn’t a problem. A mulberry tree separates the areas, and they each have their own space. We loved the house inside and out. It combines old and modern really well. If you want to stay in a 1400 year old house, go and experience it yourself. 5*

A lovely historic place to stay, just minutes from town. Watch your head, the ceilings are low.

Number 1 is a lovely little cottage. There was a slight sewage smell in the courtyard, but otherwise it was great.
