Paul was a fantastic host and was happy to suggest nearby places to eat. We loved our stay at Hamlet House. The full English breakfast was excellent, and there was unlimited cereal and toast as well. Our cosy double was just as described, with a comfortable bed, a good room temperature and spotless private toilet and shower in separate rooms. It’s a few minutes’ walk to the town centre, which was perfect for exploring. Parking is limited to two spaces in front of the property, though several paid car parks are within walking distance. Some smaller streets have free parking from 6pm-8am, so you can save a bit overnight if you find a space. Highly recommended!

The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good quality. Hosts were friendly and really helpful. It’s well located for both the town centre and railway station, and the price was reasonable. I’d recommend it and will stay again.

Paul’s full English was an absolute cracker, so tasty, with sausage, egg, fried bread, bacon, beans, half a tomato and four pieces of black pudding. Tea, coffee and orange juice were available too. For our one night, everything was perfect. This little bed and breakfast is slap bang where you want to be for Shakespeare, and we’d happily recommend it for exploring the area. On arrival, we got one of the two parking spaces outside. Paul wasn’t home, but gave us check-in instructions through the doorbell, including that we could arrive early and that our cosy double was room 3 on the first floor. One warning for when you’re out and about: another guest was pickpocketed while looking around the market, and Paul said some scrotes have moved into the area over the last few years, so stay vigilant. I’ll book Hamlet House again if I’m back around here.

Please be aware this guest house is sadly closed for the foreseeable future because of a family illness.

Breakfast was the surprise highlight. There was loads to choose from, and the good ingredients really came through. I usually skip it, but couldn't resist a little fry-up, and my partner was impressed with the coffee too. We'd booked at the last minute, and Paul kindly let us check in much earlier than usual, which made a big difference to our plans. He gave us the useful details, then left us to settle in. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a night, including good pillows, quality towels and Wi-Fi. The decor was quirky rather than glamorous, which I liked. Breakfast was included in a very reasonable price. Thanks, we'll be back at Hamlet House next time we're in the area.
