Travelodge Stratford Upon Avon

The breakfast was great and the room was good value, so I’d stay again. The location is handy too, about ten minutes from the city centre. My room was clean, with a comfortable bed, a good pillow and a very useful little heater. A few things let it down: the shower soap was empty, the TV wouldn’t turn on and neither bedside USB socket worked. One waitress seemed miserable and acted as if serving us was a burden, though the others were lovely.

At least the car park was free. We spent two nights in a room above the pizza and chicken takeaways, and the noise was awful. One morning, delivery trucks and their reversing beeps woke us at 5am, with more deliveries coming to the takeaways and the Aldi next door. The next, locals were hanging out by the takeaway at 2am with loud music playing from their cars. The bathroom was unbelievably tiny too. Sitting on the toilet, my shoulders barely fit between the door and sink.

The breakfast had a good range of hot and cold choices, and the staff were very polite. It’s about a 15-minute walk into town along one straight road. Dominos is next door, and there’s a complex further down with Greggs, Subway, Tesco and other places to eat. The hotel was more than adequate for my three-day stay, and I’d definitely come back for a short visit.

We were staying here while our dog was unwell, and the staff were so understanding during a stressful time. Mina at reception deserves a special mention. She made us feel welcome and comfortable, and anything we asked for, extra bedsheets, towels or tissues, arrived straight away with a smile. Her kindness and helpfulness made a real difference.
