That Scotticanos joke about Americanos had us laughing hard. We stopped into the Strathcarron Hotel for meals and drinks several times, even though we were staying next door at the Station Master’s House, and loved every visit. Richard and Becca made the place feel so welcoming, and the food and hospitality were both excellent. It's a lovely local hotel with genuinely nice people running it. We'd happily recommend it and come back when we're in the area.

We arrived by train as two Australians travelling around the UK, and Richard, Becca, Tim and the rest of the staff made us feel like family. Dinner and breakfast were perfect, and the beautiful setting made our one night at Strathcarron Hotel unforgettable. We’re already hoping to return for more of the excellent beers and gorgeous Scotch whiskies. Places like this are exactly why I love travelling.

The hotel worked perfectly as a base for our day trip to Skye. We had a great stay last year, with comfortable rooms and a really good shower. Breakfast and dinner downstairs were lovely, and we played scrabble in the restaurant and even got a little piano show. The couple who own and run the place are the kindest. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious and hearty, with a full Scottish or continental breakfast that was spot on too. We found a great range of reasonably priced Malt Whiskies and locally brewed beer, plus Scottish cider if neither is your thing. The whisky barrel cider went especially well with food instead of wine. Strathcarron is a well placed country pub, with rooms upstairs and spectacular views down the glen from the bar-restaurant. Richard and Becca are warmly welcoming owners who shake your hand and remember your name, and Tim is attentive. A great base for walking the Cape Wrath trail or driving the NC500.

Storm Amy gave us a few unforgettable days here. We were lucky to be sheltered by the team, who went out of their way to keep us warm, fed and watered despite no power or phone signal. Tim even bent over backwards, quite literally. Richard remembered us from a visit a year and a half earlier, when we had stayed nearby. Richard, Becca and Tim are amazing hosts, and the homecooked food and local beers are fantastic. Already looking forward to next year's visit. Honestly, couldn't recommend it enough!
