Darren was quick to help when the hot water stopped, fixing a tripped breaker, though the shower still had a weak flow and its door wouldn’t shut. The bathroom sink, tucked behind the toilet, was awkward to reach, as was the tap, so I ended up using the kitchenette to wash. The room itself fell short. There was no view and no opening window, just one clear pane. The skylight could have been nice, but it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for ages, and a security light kept flashing on through the night. The bathroom light was automatic and couldn’t be switched off, with light spilling into the room around the ill-fitting door. The beds were low and soft, so we rolled toward the middle. A wobbly side table sat above the heater, and I didn’t trust it with anything breakable. The fridge was cramped by ice on the coils, had no door shelf, and milk had to lie down. Getting in was a challenge too: a narrow muddy track, a ditch on one side and a large caravan on the other. Luckily it stayed dry. Darren warned us about the ditch, and getting out meant reversing partway before turning around. Fast traffic on the A road made leaving tricky, though there were occasional gaps. The entrance was also hard to spot at first. It was quiet apart from daytime traffic, but there was rubbish beside the room.

We had a lovely, restful stay in a peaceful spot. The room was clean and comfortable, and Darren was really friendly and helpful. Netflix wouldn’t work, so he even set up his own Fire Stick for us. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a bit of quiet.

We first stayed at Chalet Cottages after several years of visiting family in Luton, and the location suited us perfectly. Darren was accommodating and very helpful, and his detailed email made arrival and departure straightforward. The cottage had what we needed, including a kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge, iron, WiFi and Netflix. The bed was comfortable and the shower easy to get into. We had a great few days and will definitely stay here again.

We spent the bank holiday weekend in Belle Cottage, which had plenty of room for the two of us. There’s parking, and outside our room were a garden table and chairs. The kitchen had a kettle, toaster and microwave. Darren was great, and I’d happily recommend staying here.

I came here for some time on my own, and that’s exactly what I got. It’s peaceful, with the reassuring sound of the A6 nearby, so you don’t feel cut off but can still get away from things. There’s a nice pub about a 10-15 minute walk up the road. Honestly, I’d keep this place to myself, but someone’s livelihood depends on it being shared. One of the best stays I’ve had.
