The restaurant has plenty of choice and the food is excellent. We usually struggle to find enough to eat at one place for three nights, but not here. Both the quality and portions make the prices feel very reasonable, and there's a good bar selection with several real ales. Everyone we dealt with was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Although the location feels a little remote, it's handy for getting around, only 10 minutes from the M5. Gloucester, Bristol, Bath, Chepstow and The Wye Valley are among the places nearby. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished, with tea, coffee, water and Bickies. Bathrooms are modern and roomy, with toiletries. It's a relaxing place to spend a few days, and we'll return as soon as we can.

We came as a big family group, and both the service and food were faultless. Nobody rushed us out at the end, and the staff were happy to help with anything. My Sunday roast was excellent, and I think everyone was impressed.

The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had been updated well, and the room itself was nice. The restaurant is pleasant, with good spacing and a slightly grand feel. The building and location are lovely too, though the bar door could do with fixing. There was dust throughout, and the bathroom vent was so clogged that I cleared some of it myself. The bedding had a suspicious mark and wasn't tucked in properly at the foot of the bed. The old chairs and woodwork could use an update. These are minor things that would help the room feel four-star. I don't want to make it sound awful, because it wasn't, and I'd go back.

The room was spacious, well equipped and clean, and the modern bathroom was a pleasure to use, with a large walk-in shower. The room temperature was comfortable in October, though there's no air conditioning, as you'd expect in a pub. Most of my stay in the main building was good. The staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. If you sleep lightly, you may want to avoid a room facing the road. The old single-glazed windows don't seal properly, so noise could be an issue. I assume that may be due to legal restrictions, perhaps listed status or a conservation area. Knowing it's a pub, I didn't expect anything beyond the usual, and I was happy with the stay. I'd gladly return.

The rooms are huge, the bathrooms fantastic and the staff lovely. It was great value, full of character, and I slept peacefully. I'd absolutely come back. Just a little attention to the mattress, and some way to reduce the impact of the big glowing green exit signs on both room doors while meeting H&S/Fire Reg requirements, would make this B&B perfection. Lovely place, good job everyone.
