The Painswick gave us the best hotel stay we’ve had in the Cotswolds, without a doubt. The room was lovely, with great views across the valley, and the food and drinks were exceptional. Everything came with faultless service. If understated luxury and impeccable service are what you’re after, this is the place.
We had such a cozy, lovely stay in late October, and the staff were amazing. From the comfortable rooms and elegant lounges to the balconies and beautifully scented products, every detail felt carefully chosen. The views from our windows were stunning, and at night the sky was full of stars ✨✨. The food was phenomenal, with every dish beautifully balanced, and we really appreciated how carefully they accommodated our halal preferences. Thanks especially to Betsy, Isabella, Libby, and the chef. We’d absolutely stay again.
I’m a wedding photographer and would love to shoot another wedding at Painswick Hotel. The rooms and grounds are stunning for photos, and the town has loads of lovely spots for additional shots, so couples have almost endless options. Right in the heart of the Cotswolds, it’s a beautiful venue. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional to work with, which helped the day run smoothly and made it enjoyable for everyone.
The restaurant’s a nice place to spend time, but the food was a mixed bag. The cheese soufflé starter was fantastic, and my wife’s venison main was excellent. My beef wellington had no lining between the pastry and duxelles, leaving the pastry a little soft. The sauce was far too acidic and overpowering, and ruined the dish. Breakfast was much better: a lovely continental spread and an excellent cooked breakfast, one of the best, in fact. The cozy room was as described and comfortable, though a bit expensive for the price. The lounges are lovely for relaxing by the open fires in the evening, but we kept having to find staff to serve drinks. The background music was irritatingly loud, mixing 50s and 60s Christmas songs with trance and dance. Please pick one or the other, preferably never the latter! The village setting is very pretty, and the outside spaces are lovely. Little touches like guest wellies and fresh milk in the rooms help lift the hotel above the ordinary.
A cozy, beautiful hotel in a small Cotswolds village. I had a comfortable, very welcoming birthday stay, and the dinner, breakfast, and afternoon tea were all delicious. Every corner of the lounge, restaurant, rooms, and other spaces looked beautiful. The staff were amazing, so friendly, and made the stay even happier. I’ll definitely come back ☺️💗
