The manager Harry was an absolute delight and a real credit to the pub. The service from everyone was warm and attentive, and the food was first class, especially the Sunday roast. I’m still thinking about that gravy, easily the best I’ve had in years. We were staying nearby and had heard good things, so we came to see for ourselves. We ended up eating here three times during our stay. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We’re lucky to have this fabulous pub as our new local. For our 30th wedding anniversary, we had a delicious meal in the back restaurant on Tuesday, using the eat out to help out scheme. We enjoyed it so much that we came back Sunday with two of our grown-up kids and our dog, eating in the front bar. That meal was fabulous too. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is lovely and friendly. Well done, Rose and Crown!

There’s ample parking, and the friendly staff greet you with a smile. The menu has a good range, including vegetarian and vegan options, but it felt a bit too posh for me and didn’t appeal much. I went for the simple fish and chips, which was delicious, though a little pricey. My friend enjoyed her pork dish, which looked lovely. I’d go again for lunch, when I’d hope for a simpler menu.

We had a very peaceful night after a wedding, and the whole team at Rose & Crown made the stay feel almost faultless. The food is a must. I’ve never had better ham hock terrine, and the scotch eggs with bloody Mary sauce were a great combination. There’s a good choice of local ales and beers to try with your meal. After a nap in our room, we had the half-price fish and chips with mushy peas and fizz, plus quite a few glasses of wine. The sunny back garden was a lovely place to spend the evening playing games. It’s great for drinks, with a fire pit and covered booths that work well for socializing and distancing. We finished with a full English breakfast. We’d arranged our custom version with the chef the night before, but still couldn’t finish it all. There are beautiful views, National Trust parks and forests nearby. I’d recommend stopping here with a friend, partner or family. Thanks for a great stay!

We had a lovely lunch here a couple of weeks ago, though I’m a little late writing this. The staff were very welcoming, and the food was fantastic. We both started with lamb pitta, which was refreshing in the heat, then I had the beer-battered haddock and enjoyed that too. I’d happily come back and work my way through more of the varied menu.
