We had a poor stay earlier this month. On several occasions, the male owner was rude to guests and completely inflexible. At breakfast, my cousin asked if she could refill her water bottle and he replied, “Can't it wait till after breakfast?” That was one of several rude moments. The owners have apparently removed Facebook reviews because they told the real story. I also saw the TV show they were on, Four in a Bed, and felt his true colours came through there. I had included some positive points on TripAdvisor, but the management response didn’t really address them. I’d avoid this place, as there are plenty of nicer options, including a hotel right across the road.

We’d booked five rooms for a wedding a year in advance, paying over £1,000, but the man called six days before the wedding to cancel and refused to refund us. Guests were coming from Australia and the USA. He even refused to refund one Australian couple unless their travel agent contacted him, although the agent wasn’t in the UK. Disgusting and dishonest behaviour. When I posted about it on their Facebook page, they stopped accepting reviews. Says it all. I also watched them on Four in a Bed and thought you could see exactly what sort of person he is. Swindler, plank, short and thick come to mind.

The breakfast was really nice, and the hosts were great, always happy to help. I only realised afterwards that they offer a free shuttle, so I could have avoided paying for a taxi if I’d read the details more carefully. The room was spacious, well furnished and spotless, with a good shower. Highly recommend.
