I expected a lot after seeing this place while looking for one of our usual Christmas Airbnbs up on the common, but the flat was freezing, dirty, and in terrible shape. There were cobwebs everywhere and plenty of dead and live bugs. The lounge chair and sofa were black with dirt, and the sofa's whole bottom was broken, so you couldn't sit on it. Furniture throughout was either broken or of the worst quality. The kitchen table wobbled so much it couldn't be used, and the light bulbs that a November review said were out still didn't work. There's no way to turn up the heating. On top of that, the flat doesn't have a freezer. To get there, you go through the owners' garden, lit by one of the world's smallest floodlights. My children called the stairs up to the flat 'The stairs of death'. Anyone with mobility issues won't be able to safely get out of the car park. I'd definitely recommend staying in one of the other places up on the common. This one is so bad, do not stay here.

We had a good time during our stay last weekend, and loved the building's quirky character. The shower was great, and the woman from the pub who let us in was very friendly. She replied to my email about the problems, though I'm still waiting to hear from the owner. For what we experienced, it felt very expensive, but it could be great with some improvements. There was a serious woodlice problem in both the upstairs bedroom and lounge. The room was freezing, and woodlice fell from the beam onto the bed, so I ended up sharing with my friend. In the lounge, they crawled over the floor and dropped from the ceiling. The sofa was old and very dirty, the place felt cold in the evening, and there was a lot of dust. The kitchen light didn't work, and the outside stairs were unsteady at the top.

The shower pressure was weak, but everything else was perfect. The accommodation was large, warm, clean, cosy, and fairly priced, just right for our girls' weekend. The beds were very comfortable. We had dinner at the pub both nights and were happy with every meal and the excellent service.
