Gretenham B&B

The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with a choice of starters, orange juice and toast. The meats came from the local butcher in town, and it was served in a cosy lounge. This is a delightful, welcoming B&B just yards from the town centre. The proprietors gave us a warm welcome, and the place is beautifully decorated throughout. Our first floor room at the back had hillside views and was well equipped with tea and coffee, biscuits, shelving, a bottle opener, chairs, a large wardrobe and a very comfy bed. The ensuite had a shower, basin and toilet. Everything was immaculate. A first class B&B and well worth a stay at a reasonable price.

John and Lou were lovely, attentive hosts, and even let us put the ice blocks for our cool bag in the freezer. The property is just a minute’s walk from the centre of Swanage. We stayed in the smaller of the two rooms just before the Easter weekend. It was bright, with good storage and a really comfy bed. The ensuite was very small but perfectly adequate, and there’s a larger bathroom across the landing if you want more space. Breakfast was lovely, especially the scrambled eggs, and was served at the time we asked. We’d definitely stay again!

The room is on the modest side, and some people might find it a little snug, though there’s a larger one too. For an overnight stay, it was comfortable and ideal. Tea and coffee in the room were a nice touch. Jon and Lou offer a remarkably friendly, comfortable stay, and Lou knows the area well and has great breakfast choices. They’re right in the town centre, so it’s easy to explore everything Swanage has to offer on foot. I’d have no hesitation recommending Gretenham B&B.

We stayed for 3 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. Lou and John were welcoming and friendly, and gave us lots of recommendations for our visit. Breakfast was delicious 😋. Couldn’t fault anything, it was all perfect!
