It's a good spot, with plenty of shops and places to eat nearby, and a pleasant downhill walk into Swansea. The room was spacious and very clean, with crisp white bedding, a big bay window, and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was decent too. This is one of the more affordable hotels we've stayed at, so it wasn't as impressive as the pricier places.

We paid just under £70, and at that price I wasn't entirely happy. The shower was awful, we each got one thin, old pillow, the cheap mattress squeaked a lot, and the curtains were practically see-through. A few small fixes could make this a great place, though. The room itself was clean and roomy, and the hotel is in a great spot. Walking to the center was enjoyable and took only 10 minutes. There was a smell in our room like an Amsterdam coffee shop.

The room was really nice and clean, and I was pleasantly surprised to find I'd been upgraded to a suite with my own bathroom. It's got a TV bar and everything you need as a traveller. There's a fridge and microwave on the second floor for everyone to use. I felt safe with the Covid measures in place. You can't smoke in the room, but there's a smoking area just outside, so that wasn't a problem. It's my first visit to Wales. I booked because the price for one room was good, and I got a welcome message with instructions. There are lots of little shops and takeaways nearby, plus a good bus connection if you want to go hiking. The beach is a 15 minute walk away. The train station is about 30 minutes on foot, which I had to work out myself because the buses run a bit awkwardly on Sundays. I'm giving it 5 stars.

Last time I stayed here, 7/8 years ago, it was delightful. This visit was a real letdown. The room felt like cheap student accommodation, and the two lights didn't work, leaving only the harsh ceiling light. The blind was broken and in a disgusting state. The mattress sloped to one side, and I kept nearly rolling out of bed during the night. I'd been looking forward to coming back, so I'm very disappointed. I won't return or recommend it. I took photos of the blind and lights. If this had been a chain hotel, I'd have asked for a refund.

We booked two nights but left after one because the room felt so seedy. At least the door locked and there was a roof over our heads, but that was about it. The windows had dropped and were very hard to close once opened. With no net curtains, we had no privacy overlooking houses and a car park. The bedroom radiator had no thermostat and made the room too hot. The cheap, brittle plastic curtain rails made it almost impossible to draw the curtains without pulling them off. In the bathroom, tiles were badly cracked, grout was missing, and there was a sewage stench. Its window wouldn't open, both the bath and sink were heavily stained, and the mirror was too high for most people. The double bed was wonky. Underneath, I found a broken middle support leg and a slat that had fallen out. What looked like rubbish under the bed turned out to be a bed bug trap, which was alarming and left us dreading the night. The decor was in poor shape too, with peeling wallpaper and cracked skirting. For all we knew, there were little fleas waiting to pounce. The coffee mugs weren't clean, so we went to Costa.
