The Grand Hotel Swansea

The air freshener smell was overpowering from the moment we walked in, all the way to the room. Our bedside tables were so far from the bed that we had to get out of bed to reach them. There was mould around the shower sealant and tiles, the fixed shower head splashed water everywhere when switched on, and the bathroom mirror light didn’t work. The room lights were so dim it was difficult to get ready. The coffee machine worked when it felt like it. Every room had a lunch menu, but there was no lunch service. After travelling for four hours, we really didn’t want to drive around looking for a restaurant and pay parking charges each time we went out. The lift light flickered, then was removed completely during our stay. With the doors shut it was pitch black, so we had to use our phone torches to see the floor numbers. I wouldn’t book a room here again.

The rooms are plush and apartment-style, with all the nice touches, and the staff are polite and happy to look after guests. Good value, a great location, and convenient parking nearby. Highly recommend.

Victoria at reception made us feel right at home on both visits. She remembered me and my kids the second time, was so welcoming and friendly, and went above and beyond for me and my two little ones. I’d booked to return in two weeks and asked for the same room. She arranged it so the kids and I could have that spacious room again. I can’t thank her enough!

Room 403’s bubble bath wasn’t working during my stay, even though that was why I’d paid to upgrade. The manager came up promptly after I reported it, checked the problem, and dealt with it professionally. They refunded the upgrade fee and offered a complimentary cocktail as a goodwill gesture, which I appreciated. There were a couple of inconveniences, but the friendly staff handled the issue with care and made a positive difference. I had a good stay overall, would recommend the hotel, and would come back.
