Heath Farm Holiday Cottages

The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for self-catering, and we loved the setting. We spent time walking in the woods, playing croquet and pétanque on the games lawn, and relaxing in the hot tub. Eating outside was lovely too. Abi gave us a friendly welcome and communicated really well. We did have two disappointments. We booked a year ahead mainly because an advertisement in my husband’s RC plane magazine said the farm was suitable for electric model aircraft. The website also described a custom flying strip in the meadow, a modeling room, and a flying season from mid-April to the end of September. But when my husband saw the area, he realised the surrounding trees made it unsuitable for his planes. He tried flying once, but even with his experience he didn’t feel safe because of the risk of crashing. Someone connected with the cottages acknowledged the problem when he spoke to them. It was a letdown, though it didn’t spoil the break. We wouldn’t have booked such an expensive short stay a year in advance if we’d known. The other issue was the water pump in Cobnut. Whenever anyone turned on a tap it made a loud noise, which I assume was to boost the water flow. We’re a family with different routines, so simple things like brushing teeth, washing up, or getting a drink risked waking someone. It might not bother a group who all keep the same hours, but by the end of our four nights it had become wearing. It was still a fabulous break, just not a perfect one.

Hazelnut Cottage was cosy, clean, and well equipped, and we enjoyed coming back to it after visiting nearby Cotswolds villages. It’s a great base for exploring. The peaceful countryside views were stunning, and the grounds were beautifully kept. We especially liked the courtyard, which clearly gets a lot of care from someone who loves gardening. It was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the surroundings. We were made to feel very welcome, and the relaxed hospitality made our three-night stay feel easy. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. We’d happily recommend Heath Farm.

We arrived on a weekday, before many other guests had arrived, so the place felt private and we could explore as though we had it to ourselves. The owners were friendly and helpful with ideas for things to do, and even gave us eggs when we realised we hadn’t bought enough. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and had a BBQ grill, which made for a proper experience. We caught a rainbow trout in their lake and ate it that same day. There were lots of toys and games for our toddler, who had a great time, especially petting and feeding the goats. We also managed a Teams meeting outside by the lake since mobile coverage was good. The place was beautiful ❤️ Don’t hesitate to ask the hosts for help, they’re lovely. We’ll definitely come back when we can 😆

We stayed in Walnut with our two toddlers and had a fantastic time. The cottage is even more beautiful in person, with light streaming through the big windows, plenty of space, and lots of thoughtful little details. Our private garden had a swing, table, and jacuzzi, and the grounds were full of flowers and plants. Our favourite day may have been spent just enjoying the property: we picnicked, wandered through the orchard, played on the trampoline, and walked to the flower meadow. The kids loved greeting the chickens, looking for strawberries, and petting the goats. When we went out to explore the Cotswolds, we still found ourselves eager to get back and enjoy the place before the day was over. Mon was so kind and helpful, especially when our car wouldn’t start and we needed to get to the hospital. Heath Farm feels warm and special. It’s a rare place, and I’d love to return.
