The evening and night staff were brilliant, even when they were busy preparing for the next day. Security has improved a lot, especially in the evening: the main doors stay closed and open only when you press the buzzer. The rooms are clean and newly refurbished, and the hotel overall is looking great. Afternoon and evening staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was a letdown. The low-priced burger and chips weren't cooked fresh, just reheated in a microwave, and were nasty. I would have paid more for better quality. Breakfast wasn't worth it either: sausage and scrambled eggs only, no fried eggs, half-full cups of hot drinks, and a limited continental selection, just a bowl of fruit to put on yogurt, with no melon or cold cuts. It would have been better to walk to McDonald's across the road. When I left in the late morning, the manager, housekeeping and receptionists were on the floor hugging and chatting about their personal lives instead of noticing me or other customers. It didn't seem professional. The Friday morning receptionist was so focused on the desk that he kept his head down and seemed not to notice customers. Morning staff weren't as good as the evening and night team.

The bed was reasonably comfortable, but the bath plug didn't work and breakfast was lukewarm at best. The place feels like poorly refurbished student accommodation, and would need a lot of work and a massive revamp to resemble a TL property. If I’d known about the new TL up the road, I’d have booked there without question.

My wife checked in at night after I booked her stay for 10 October 2025. Nobody at reception told her to register the car. The Travelodge site calls the parking free, but it’s run by Horizon Parking. On 28 October she got a £51 parking fine from Horizon. The whole arrangement feels incredibly dishonest. We won’t use Travelodge again.

The room had a string of problems: the TV was missing channels and its remote wouldn’t open the guide, the sink was connected backwards so cold brought hot water, and it took five minutes to drain. The shower hose leaked so much that more water came out there than from the shower head. Staff said the room was due for refurbishment when I raised it. Booking was frustrating too. The price started at £30 for single occupancy, then rose to £55 when I changed it to double. I booked at that price, then two minutes later received an email inviting me to book for £30. Mine was non-refundable, and when I explained this on arrival, there was nothing they could do.

The staff were friendly and the location was good, but the room was tiny, with no wardrobe, just a bare rail and hangers. There was no fridge or air conditioning, and with the windows locked it got a little hot. I also had to ask reception for tea bags, coffee and milk, as none were in the room. I hope the new management makes the improvements they advertised.
