For a quick overnight stop, this Travelodge was perfect and reasonably priced, with fantastic service. My brother and I had separate rooms, and they were warm and cozy despite the temperature outside dropping to -1°C overnight. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the staff made me feel like family. I arrived half an hour before check-in, but they let me settle in early without any fuss and joked around with me, which put me at ease. The shower pressure was decent, though it could have been a bit stronger. There aren't full meal options nearby, but Greggs and a petrol station are within walking distance. I wouldn't choose it for a long stay unless I could sort out meals, but for passing through, it's spot on.

The A64 location makes it easy to reach York or head toward Leeds, and gives you a more affordable base than staying right in the city centre. I found the Travelodge York Tadcaster a handy starting point for exploring Yorkshire, with nearby places for a quick bite or essentials. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were professional and welcoming, with that friendly Yorkshire hospitality. My room was clean, functional, and surprisingly spacious, just what I've come to expect from the modern Travelodge brand. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, and I appreciated being able to control the temperature. For a family trip or solo research mission, it offers a reliable no-frills stay and leaves more of your budget for the fun parts. I'll keep it in mind for future Yorkshire adventures.

Ashley and Isaak were so friendly and welcoming at reception. The rooms are massive, and the TV had full Freeview. Mobile data on the 3 network wasn't great there, and of course the Wi-Fi costs extra. It's 6 miles into York, but getting back means driving out and coming back on yourself because the hotel is on a motorway, making the return trip about 14 miles.

The room and bathroom were spacious for a budget stay, and the welcome was friendly. I slept quietly on the side away from the A64, and there was a reasonable amount of parking. I booked an overnight stop, but my mistake was thinking the Travelodge was near Tadcaster. It's on the eastbound A64 carriageway, with a Greggs and an Esso Londis filling station nearby. There are no local bars or eateries, though the station has basic food and drinks.

I can't fault the front-of-house staff. Ashley went above and beyond to sort things out, and Nigel the night porter was helpful, including with our bags. The building, maintenance, and cleaning teams really let the place down and need urgent attention. Our first room sounded like someone was banging on the door. Ashley said it was a known plumbing issue, apparently an airlock, and managed to stop it. By 23:30 it started again, like someone constantly banging a drum. Nigel moved us to another room, but around 03:30 we were woken by the herd of elephants in the room above. We were told we'd have a different room for our second night. When we returned, Ashley gave us the new key and our bags had been moved as promised. But there was dirty bedding on the floor, the bins hadn't been emptied, rubbish was left on the floor, and dirty towels were on the bathroom floor. Ashley checked a couple of other rooms for us, but they hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests either. Eventually she found one that had been cleaned properly. The TV picture was lousy, though we fixed it by keeping the aerial lead away from the power leads.
