Vicki's Den

Vicki's Den is a well furnished bedsit with a good standard of fittings and decor. The small west-facing balcony has a table and two chairs, and on clear days the views are lovely. In October it was mostly sunny, though windier than usual, with some stunning blue skies. Horses in the field below add to the calm, quiet setting, which is great for a mindful moment. The room was clean and well equipped, with plenty of pots, pans, plates, glasses and mugs. I also appreciated the welcome pack of milk, bread, butter, tea, instant coffee, biscuits and a chocolate bar, especially as I didn’t see a shop in the hamlet. There are plenty of larger shops a couple of miles away in Tain. The beach is only yards away, with sandy shores to walk on, and I’d absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. One of the best parts was chatting with Vicki. She’s a delight, helpful, knowledgeable, funny and just really nice. Thanks to Vicki, her dogs and Danny Boy the horse too. I loved Vicki's Den and wish her success with the business.

We felt welcome as soon as we parked at Vicki’s Den, where everything was clean, homely and wonderfully peaceful. We were visiting Dornoch and stayed here instead, about a 20-minute drive away. The beach is just a two-minute walk, and after that there’s a lovely stretch of white sand dunes about a 20-25 minute walk away. On our three-hour walk we saw only one other person, so it was very quiet. The Inver Inn is a nice little restaurant roughly five minutes away on foot, and it’s popular, so book ahead. Tain is an easy 10-minute drive, with Tesco, Lidl, restaurants and other places to visit. Vicki was warm and friendly, and made our stay even better by chatting with us, sharing about herself and giving us local tips. I hope we’ll be back soon!

We had an amazing time and can’t wait to return in the summer. We booked this romantic getaway for my partner’s birthday, and Vickie went the extra mile for our special requests. The decor and furnishings were absolutely beautiful and immaculate, with gorgeous scenery outside. Thoughtful touches included rose petals and fresh milk, orange juice, bread and jam. Vickie was so friendly, and the stay couldn’t have been more perfect.

Such a lovely place, and a lovely host. Vicki's Den smells brand new and was very clean, and the bed was soooo big and comfy.
