Tegfan Garden Suite

The suite was a wonderful place to unwind and breathe in the fresh air, with huge windows looking out over the lawn and garden. Helen was a lovely host and a wealth of knowledge about Talgarth, Brecon and the surrounding area. She suggested plenty to do, and Brecon Cathedral is a must see. When my stay ended, she even helped arrange my trip back to the train in Abergavenny. It was the highlight of my first overseas trip. The Welsh made welcome hamper was exquisite, and the fridge was stocked with everything needed for the best breakfasts. Helen’s homemade preserves and chutneys are like no other. Clear appliance instructions and all the little touches made the suite feel like a little slice of heaven. I’ll be back in Wales, and Tegfan Garden Suite will be on my agenda.

There are lovely walks right from the door, and although it’s quiet and peaceful, it doesn’t feel isolated. The location suited us perfectly. Without a car, it was still just a 20-minute walk into the small town of Talgarth, where the T14 bus runs to Brecon and Hereford via Hay-on-Wye several times a day. The place was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Helen’s generous welcome hamper, full of fantastic local produce, was delightful, and she was so welcoming, with invaluable advice and tips to help us enjoy the stay.

Helen and her family were warm and friendly, and the Welsh produce hamper was a lovely welcome. We had a wonderful stay at Tegfan garden suite in Talgarth. Helen also had plenty of ideas for keeping our days busy, though there just weren’t enough hours to fit everything in. Thanks, we’ll definitely come back.

We were after somewhere in the dark sky reserve that wasn’t glamping, and this was just right. The room is finished to a high standard, with a modern fitted kitchen, ensuite and lovely mountain views. On a clear night, it’s also great for stargazing, with reclining garden seats and a fire pit. It’s very quiet and peaceful, ideal for a relaxing weekend. Helen was a fabulous host, greeting us with a hamper full of local produce and giving us a feel for the area and things to do straight away, including great food recommendations. There are lots of walks from the door and other places to visit a short drive away, and Helen had some fabulous suggestions. We’ve just come back from a lovely long weekend and would definitely stay again. 100% recommend.
