The location is ideal for anyone wanting to explore the nearby mountains, but I wouldn't return unless the hostel improved. The bedrooms are cramped and overcrowded, and the mattresses are too thin and uncomfortable. It was extremely cold, and the doors slam loudly enough to be heard upstairs. The kitchen is very small for so many people, and the main house is not fully wheelchair accessible. The bathrooms are too small, with no hooks for clothes or towels. The showers are very slippery, and there's no paper towels for drying hands, which is a basic hygiene requirement. We also shouldn't have to do a deep clean before leaving when the accommodation costs so much. A cleaner should get it ready for the next group so guests can enjoy their final day. If it were brought up to these standards, I'd definitely come again, but at the moment, sadly, I wouldn't.

Abbey looked after us through a snowstorm and was an absolute angel. She's also a really good cook. The accommodation felt amazingly home-y, right in the middle of a beautiful place.

There are lovely places to eat outside if you're self catering, with wonderful views. The garden furniture was well maintained, and the planted borders and courtyard pots gave everything a cared for feel. My partner and I spent three nights at this fabulous hostel and had a superb break. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful with suggestions for places to visit and walks. They worked incredibly hard to keep the premises clean and tidy. Thanks for a great stay, we'll be back.

The basic accommodation was very clean and squared away, and the setting and atmosphere were great. I have limited hostel experience and hadn't expected much, but this place exceeded my expectations. Several of us from our walking group stayed over Easter weekend after a 24 hour, 70km hike. We were exhausted when we arrived at 10pm, past the scheduled check in time. The manager was waiting outside to greet us and make sure we got settled, even though we were late. He was very fair about it, and even brought us drinks and snacks, which we appreciated. The next morning we had an outstanding breakfast with both continental and full cooked options. The service was fantastic, and I'd have no hesitation returning. I'd highly recommend it.

We booked a short stay for two people and our dog. It was brilliant that there was no extra charge for the dog and no breed discrimination. The drive there was lovely and tucked away, but the directions were very clear. Staff were friendly when we arrived. There was a school group staying, so we were told the kitchen couldn't be used after a certain time. That was fine for us, and the person explaining it was very apologetic. We had a little explore after setting up camp and the area was lovely. We slept well, and the other campers respected the 10pm quiet time. On our last night there was a retirement party. It annoyed some guests, though the party tried to involve everyone in their games, which was great. A very laid back, small campsite, perfect for us and just what we needed.
