The couple who own and run the place are lovely. I was visiting a couple of friends who were camping, but they had to abandon because the weather was the worst in years. I still had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and I’d use it again if I’m back in the area. The breakfast was wonderful, especially the top quality bacon and sausage, cooked just right, and the room was fantastic value. I booked the cheapest room, which was advertised as having an extremely small ensuite. It had a great shower, toilet and sink. Unless you’re extremely big, it’s absolutely fine.

We’ve just come back from a fantastic family stay. The rooms were spotless, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was delicious and had a really good choice. Thanks for a wonderful visit. We’ll definitely return for another stay, hopefully this year.

We got lost because of our sat nav, so the hosts came out of the hotel and guided us. They were lovely and friendly, even though we checked in late at midnight after travelling from Nottingham and doing a 6 hour hike to Snowdon. Their effort made the stay even more enjoyable. The price was worth it, the rooms were very clean, the shower facilities were decent, and the English breakfast in the morning was good. They were really helpful. I’d highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay again. Thanks again to both hosts.

Breakfast was good. I enjoyed the granola, walnuts and pumpkin seeds. The rest of the stay was disappointing, though. My friend Wayne had booked the Cadwgan House Hotel for us for Friday 1st August to Saturday 2nd August and paid £75, but the reservation was for one person in a twin/double ensuite room, not two. The hostess seemed flustered when we arrived together. She said a double room had been allocated; I pointed out that the booking said double/twin and didn’t specify anything else. She sent someone upstairs and asked us to wait while she sorted it out. We were then told to pay another £40 and shown to a room at the top of the hotel. It seemed to be a family room with two single beds and one double. Wayne took the double, while both single mattresses had springs I could clearly feel. I put a blanket over the fitted sheet and made do. Wayne also found a pair of black boxer shorts hanging on the back of the bathroom door, which we threw in the bin. I didn’t sleep well and was uncomfortable because of the mattress. When returning the key, I raised this with the hostess and said I hadn’t slept well. She focused on Wayne having booked for one person and didn’t acknowledge that the single mattresses weren’t fit for purpose. I accepted that he’d made a booking error, but the room type still said twin/double regardless of guest count. She said she’d been backed into a corner when told about the extra guest. I repeated that I was complaining about the mattresses. She said the single beds were meant for children, but I said the mattresses weren’t suitable whether an adult or child slept on them. She still didn’t accept that they were poor quality. She then explained that our room hadn’t been renovated like the others because of the last minute change to accommodate the twin room. I didn’t feel heard, and wouldn’t want anyone else to have a poor night on either mattress.

Train delays and cancellations meant I didn’t arrive until after 10pm, but the owner was understanding and went out of their way to help me. The room was lovely, with a huge ensuite and a four poster bed that let me live out a childhood dream! 🤣 Breakfast was really good too. I’d stay again and recommend it to others.
