34 The Wharfage

The house itself is lovely and in a great spot for visiting Ironbridge, but our Easter family stay had plenty of problems. The beds were so uncomfortable that we fetched mattress toppers from home, and even the smallest movement made them squeak loudly enough to wake people around the house. The downstairs bedroom's outside door was unlocked when we arrived, and we couldn't work out how to secure it. There were no instructions either; five of us spent at least half an hour figuring out how to switch on the range cooker. Afterwards, my stepmother, who booked through Sykes, tried to report the issues. Instead, they repeated claims from a nosy neighbour who saw us bringing in the toppers and assumed we'd exceeded the guest limit. They also suggested we had too many cars, even though the driveway is large, then said we should have taken photos and phoned at the time about the beds and door. We were there to enjoy a bank holiday with family. Calling from home later took my stepmother 45 minutes to over an hour just to reach someone. She posted a negative review on Sykes, but it still hasn't appeared on the property's listing, so I'm sharing this for her. The service from the property and Sykes was appalling.
